A member of the Jamboree Advisory Board since 2010, Kerry Vandell joined the Jamboree Board of Directors in 2018 and currently serves as the Dean’s Professor Emeritus of Economics & Public Policy, Director Emeritus, Center for Real Estate, The Paul Merage School of Business University of California Irvine. An expert in the areas of real estate investment, urban/real estate/environmental economics, housing economics and policy, and mortgage finance, he has written or co-authored more than 80 papers for publications such as the Journal of Finance, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and the Wharton Real Estate Review.
Kerry developed some of the first models of default risk in the commercial mortgage market. His work distinguishing real estate value from business enterprise value (BEV) in appraising complex real property interests has influenced tax assessment practices internationally.
Kerry holds a doctorate degree from MIT, as well as a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in engineering at Rice University, and a master’s in city and regional planning at Harvard University. He has served as a member of the Urban Land Institute, and a past president of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association (AREUEA).
